Calicut beckons you for the twenty-second CIGICON in August 2025. We have fond memories of hosting you for the CIGICON in 2006 and for a proper de’-ja vu of that event, we decided to host it at the very same venue, now called Raviz Kadavu Resorts, a place with scenic splendour, superb accommodation and fantastic facilities for academic events.
CIGICON Calicut aims to be different. The theme of the conference is Listening, Language and Literacy. For long we have kept this to the background, we have not forced ourselves to look at what these children and adults with cochlear implants achieve in the real world. We need to face this- outcomes matter and every little thing we do influences it. From selecting candidates appropriately to appraising their candidacy adequately, to taking immense care to place the electrodes atraumatically and in the right place, and most importantly to focus on what intervention should be done to make them reach goals that we envisage is never more pressing than it is now..
This conference will not separate the surgeons, audiologists and habilitationists; but on the contrary, will aim to forge their bonds to focus with zeal on the ultimate goal; to achieve near normalcy. For the first time, we have decided to have problem-solving workshops with all three specialities involved in cochlear implantation. As a novelty, the topics are decided first, and they are given to those who can deliver them with precision. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that everyone who comes to CIGICON leaves with another important lesson learnt, the experienced and the novice. It will be in-depth discussions that lay the nuances of every session threadbare, not another hurried session that has the risk of being soon forgotten.
And when the sun has set, and the academics are over, we will allow you to bask in the Glory that is Kerala, her heritage, warmth and immense natural beauty which this venue blends all in one. Famous for hosting Royalty and VIPs, Raviz Kadavu promises to be an experience never forgotten.
