THE COCHLEAR IMPLANT GROUP OF INDIA (CIGI) registered under The Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 with the Registered Office at Ashadeep ENT Centre, No 81, 2nd Main, 1st Cross, BTM Layout 2nd Stage, Bangalore 560 076, India. CIGI was formed in November 2024. The association comprises ENT Surgeons, Audiologists and (Re)habilitationists concerned with cochlear implantation. Individuals from other allied fields ancillary to Speech, Language, Hearing, ENT, and related areas like Industry rendering a significant contributing to the growth of Cochlear Implants and related sciences are associate members. Cochlear implantation is a surgical procedure designed to restore useful hearing to the severe to profoundly hearing-impaired individuals who do not derive benefit from hearing aid use. Cochlear Implant is inserted into the cochlea, it bypasses the hair cells of the cochlea, which are non-functional and directly stimulate the auditory nerve. More than 9 lakh people have been implanted worldwide with significant benefits and outcomes. The role and the main objective of CIGI is to work towards the advancement of Cochlear Implants and related sciences in India, activities related to its scientific study, by encouraging, promoting and guiding scientific or clinical research and experimental work, by promoting high educational, and research standards in the field of Cochlear Implants and related sciences including Surgery, Audiology, and (Re)habilitation.
